Hi there Suzie!
Congratulations on 4 years! Comfort is good!
Unlike me, you
actually post your celebrations on time! I knew you would! (I am still figuring out a graphics thingie for posting in my 4 year post. I am almost 3 months late
now - maybe I’ll save it for my 5 year?) Add to that a thought
that I should join a P.A. support group. (Procrastinator’s Anonymous) –
something to put on my to-do list…tomorrow … lol…
WOW – four years
already! What a grand year 2006 was to quit smoking! We met some cool people,
we got very educated on nicotine addiction, we helped others, we made friends,
saved lots of $ and gave ourselves the best chance at better health. How cool is that! We have discovered desires, time,
talents and abilities that lay dormant under a pile of butts and ‘ya...buts’. I can
only imagine what it would be like now to travel and be constantly earbashed by
nicotine thoughts. Certainly no holiday when nicotine is the travel agent. Sounds
like your freedom vacation was amazing!
As ever, I am so
proud of you Suzie! …..w

(we know what
10,000 cigarettes together look like eh?!)
Over 1000 packs
not smoked. not wanted. not mourned.
Congrats to you
QS! When we realize just how many butts would
have been smoked had we not quit, it is indeed sobering.
Oh, and kudos to hubby M. for his recent 4
year quit anniversary!
Happy and healthy
autumn wished to you all down under.
Spring has arrived on the west coast of Canada.

Well its now been 5 years that I last put nicotine into my body, I remember that day so well, just like it was yesterday, and baby look how far Ihave come, my grandchildren have never associated me with smoking, my two baby cats who are now 4 years old have never licked nicotine off their fur, and my old cat who is now 17 years old would probably not remember, although she picked up the addicition, she used to jump up on the table and lick the ashtray out....ewww I used to think how disgusting that was and would tap her on the nose and say no!........sad eh!I had some good travelling buddies in 2006, people who had quit before me and gave me so much support, as with every year I thank them, Robin, Wendy & Randy and then along came Shane (Gump) in Jan 2007, off forum we emailed each other, but those emails have gone from weekly to almost once a year, not that we have fallen out, we have just got on with life and the constant support is no longer applicable, out of my "besties" we have all remained nicotine free. The main souce of my forever quit is www.whyquit.com , it was here that I learnt that I was an addict, I haunted the library and absorbed as much as I could, this was my first REAL attempt at quitting (I had half hearted attempts before, but this time I had enough)......I cruised along with this quit and in all honesty if I was not a member of the Freedom Staff, I would rarely come to this site, Oh! in the first few years I would have, I believe in paying it forward, all the awesome people who supported me.But I am glad that I do, because I have learnt never to become complacent. Now I am just an ordinary person living my life as it was meant to be lived, I have absolutely no cravings to smoke, although I would be lying if I said that some time I do think about it, it was something I did for 35 years, a lot of memories associated with smoking, I still like the smell of a freshly lit cigarette, I think I associate that smell with my Dad, it's a warm memory of times long gone.I have a lot to be thankful for in my life, I am not rich but neither am I poor, I have no major medical issues that I am aware of, I have the most awesome son & daughter and husband who is also my very best friend, he has now been smoke free for over 4 years, at this moment in time I am content.Joel, John, Joanne as always ..... thank youSuzie - Free and Healing for Five Years, 11 Hours and 8 Minutes, while extending my life expectancy 101 Days and 11 Hours, by avoiding the use of 29223 nicotine delivery devices that would have cost me $15,134.86.
