I will be 49 in Sept. I started smoking when I was ....oh 12 or 13 probably. I smoked for a long time. I quit twice before. Once cold turkey with a support group, but, the quit didn't last long. Then, once using a prescribed medication. That quit lasted 7 months, until I wanted the "aahhh" moment . I have noticed for quite some time that I would huff and puff at not much excertion. I would think, I need to quit smoking. Well, that thinking went on for about a year or so and my breathing sure wasn't getting any better. It was getting worse!! I had the rest of my teeth pulled in May and a full set of dentures. Nicotine didn't totally contribute to that, but, it sure helped it along (I now know). I don't want to be an old lady with an oxygen tank!! It would be hard to ride on a motorcycle with my man, or dance with an oxygen tank . And an oxygen tank wont match my shoes! So, I seriously decided it was time to stop smoking. I was determined and intimidated by my lack of breath. I have been nicotine free for 19 days today. July 4 was my quit day, really by accident. I bought my last pack of nicotine the day before and when they were gone, they were gone! The first few days were rough, but, now not really. I can breath better already, and my gums are healing like gangbusters after the extractions I had and with no nicotine slowing down my healing!! I am grateful and blessed to have found WhyQuit and Freedom. I really do feel Free!!
