The Smoke Out week is here again. I just cancelled my Tuesday night program, because the local court system only sentenced in one high school aged student and he just agreed to come to my Thursday program instead. Actually, I like to get kids into the adult programs. They get to see people who are there because they want to quit as opposed to being just with other kids who are being told to quit by the criminal justice system. The Tuesday program also had some limited promotion to people who were offered to bring in their teens even if they were not caught smoking, using the meeting for preventative matters as well as to adults wanting to come in to quit. No one signed up to take advantage of these free services. This article explains why this reaction is common.
