Welcome to Freedom Caravan. Your history is close to mine. The tug-o-war you're feeling, you're pulling against yourself, even when you're now far enough out from under its influence that you're able to begin seeing that we lived a lie. With each passing day everything around you is telling you that life without smoking nicotine isn't just do-able but as good or better without the once mandatory feedings. Caravan, the fears of both failure and success can be so great that they can actually blind us to the beauty unfolding before our very eyes. You've gone from 40 to 60 nicotine feedings a day to zero. You are here now, at this very moment, reading and thinking about the topic of quitting smoking but very possibly not, at this exact moment, wanting to smoke. Don't you find that amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My dictionary defines a Caravan as "a group of travelers banded together and organized for mutual assistance and defense while traveling through unsettled or hostile country." It's fitting, except for the part about being hostile. I know you can't see it now but everything you've felt, every challenge endured, and every thought that's tugged, is a necessary part of the most intense period of healing your body and mind have ever encountered. It's good not bad. Your outlook -- just today -- is absolutely perfect. Without full and complete victory today there is no tomorrow. Like Joel is fond of saying, nicotine dependency recovery is one of the few activities in life where being 99% successful equates to 100% defeat. I hope you'll allow yourself to notice and appreciate the beauty of the gradually emerging you. Don't be afraid. Climb on out, Caravan, and take a look around. It's amazing how far you've come and with each passing caravan day you'll see the challenges grower fewer, shorter in duration and generally less intense. But stay prepared as there may be a bump or two left in the road, nothing you can't handle. As you drop your guard and defenses you'll be less prepared for them so keep that seat belt on! You're doing fantastic!!!!!!!! I wish I could give you a little break but in truth the glory is 100% yours. Still just one guiding principle ... no nicotine today! John (Gold x7)
