Well folks, here it is, today I am.....
!GOLD!
Yep, one year ago I found Why Quit and decided to NTAP and the rest is history.
It's funny but about 5 days ago I was really looking forward to this moment, I even had a few "Dreams of Goldening" rather than the smoking dream (which I haven't had for a long time) but then today when it came around, I almost forgot about it.
This to me sums up my attitude towards smoking now. I just don't think of it anymore. I'm too busy getting on with life, especially with all the extra time I have now from not smoking!
I thought I would wake up today with a more profound sense of well being, but the thing is, I already had that, and have had for some time. You see, one of the big secrets about quitting smoking is that comfort creeps up on you and you don't even realise!
To be honest, in early April this year I had the feeling of coming full circle with being off smoking. Like Joel says about being off a year shows that you have been through the gamut of seasons, situations and circumstance. Well for me April brings the new Spring and also brings hay fever, which sometimes can be very prolonged and unpleasant. Spring 2007 I had particularly bad hay fever, which was one of the many reasons that got me to quit.
Well this spring is no different, when the hay fever hit me I immediately thought of last spring and smoking. This time the hay fever is just as irritating but at least not exacerbated by smoking. Goes without saying I feel a million times better and am thankful everyday of my quit.
To those reading and starting new, remember to take it just one day at a time, before long the hours, days, weeks and months really do add up and the thought of using nicotine is nothing but a distant memory, part of an old you that you can hardly remember. NTAP
