Bravo Mick!
And welcome to your new freedom and healthy lifestyle.
I loved your story and sure can relate! I too didn't understand my addiction until I read Joel's library. I see now why my previous quits had failed.
I'm only a few weeks ahead of you and I am feeling fantastic!
We learn here that each trigger reminds us of smoking...but like you say 'we don't really want it.....we're just reminded of (and think about) smoking a cigarette in certain situations where we use to. But these triggers are fading fast for me.
I did the airplane triggers. That was such a joy!! I wasn't freakin' out because we were delayed and had nowhere to smoke....and I wasn't rushing to get my luggage and get through customs and get outside to SMOKE!
Isn't it a wonderful, wonderful feeling NOT to have to smoke!?
We are no long enslaved by this addiction!
We are more CALM because we're not controlled by the need to inject nicotine. More calm and relaxed when flying, going to the theatre, a car ride with others, a lunch date, a business meeting, a sporting event, having visitors in our home, going shopping.............Everything is better for the exsmoker!!
The triggers that remind me of when I USED to smoke....also remind me of such pride, relief and happiness, knowing that I will NTAP!
Remind your patient wife that you love and appreciate her Mick!
My husband and I quite the same day. It was pretty 'funny' around here for a bit..... We could have been a Reality Show!
