There is a reason we are all advised to read, read, and read a second time here, as there are"just plain gold" in these "FREEDOM LIBRARY SHELVES...Sal-Gold sent the following thread yesterday in her welcome post to crisanne1, a new member. Symptoms - when do they end? From John R. Polito (Breathe deep, hug hard, live long) it caught my eye as well as Christine's 1st Post-Diary, as she is 1 week quit after using nicotine for 26 years and educating here.
I must have read this whole article early in my quit, but now after 65 days I'm reading it again and its just what I had benn experiencing and needed to hear now. Spooky!!! What are the odds of Sal, posting to Chrisine, using this thread from John, who wrote it a good while ago, remembering his long ago 30 years nicotine addiction, coming to me, who needed to hear his works of recovery, that was paralleling mine at 8 weeks. "...my recovery evolved to the point of substantial comfort by about 8 weeks, a few weeks earlier than most but later some. It was then that I experienced my last major subconscious crave episode and sarted to notice that the once steady stream of thoughts of wanting were ever so slowly becoming fewer, shorter, and generally less intense." Well I was also looking for that mental comfort at 8 weeks, since physically I had already reached it, or think I have. However I was dealing with a loved one in hospital and was completely stress out, hence the bigger trigger.....ah!!!!hah!!!!! He goes on to say, "The most serious trigger is a period of extremely high stress, subh as tremendous financial strain, servious family illness, injury, or the death of a close friend or loved one."
Here were three sentences of John sharing his life experiences with us all and they helped me turn the corner closer to an acceptance: advice to slow down, enjoy each moment, don't get ahead of myself, take it one day at a time!!! Sound familiar? You bet, we all have heard it before and we are never too far along in our quit to never need to hear it again. PLAY IT AGAIN Sam-I mean John...
