Hello Elly and welcome to Freedom.
Quitting smoking is not only about adding time to your life....it is also about adding life to your time. Quantity and Quality. The list of what smoking can do to someone and what it can do to reduce the quality of their lives is long...here's a sample
Nicotine the culprit in lung cancer?
Mouth Cancer
Smoking's Impact on the Lungs
Smoking and Circulation
Smoking and Skin Disorders
Nicotine & Degenerative Disc Disease
Smoking and Stroke Risk
Smoking and Lupus
Smoking and Multiple Sclerosis
Smoking and Prostate Cancer
Smoking and Asthma
Smoking & Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
Nicotine as a Teratogen
Smoking Ups Colorectal Polyp Risk
Nicotine and kidney disease
Smoking and Osteoporosis
Smoking and Type II Diabetes
Nicotine and ADHD
Smoking and Memory Loss
Smoking and Thyroid Disease
Is it any surprise then why
Tobacco declared weapon of mass destruction
?
Quitting smoking now will impove the odds of not getting any of the truly horrendous smoking related illnesses we all know can and do occur to smokers. Whatever be the extent of the extra time I get on this planet because I stopped smoking, I want that extra time...and the time before it...to have the best quality that I can give it. Stopping smoking is a huge and significant step in that direction.
So a huge congratulations on quitting smoking Elly. Whether we smoked 10 cigarettes a day or 60...we are all coming home and we are all giving ourselves the best shot at a better quantity and quality of the rest of our lives . Welcome to the forum
