Angela,
Your story is all to familar. I'm 17 days ahead of you and never had too much of a problem controlling my weight. 3 weeks into my quit I had gained about 9 lbs. I would also eat until I physically bloated and was still not satisfied. Around week 3-4, I was able to adjust/control my diet to quit gaining. Part of this was because the craves were starting to lessen and I found foods I could eat more of such as fruits and high fiber foods. Today is day 31 and I've lost a couple of pounds from the peak at about day 21. I also no longer eat until I'm physically bloated. My diet is based on controlling blood sugar levels and it seems to be working now. I understand now how drastically nicotine altered my bodys chemistry and it takes several weeks to a couple of months to understand how to manage your new nicotine free body. For example, I never use to eat anything until at least 3-4 hrs after waking up and sometimes 6hrs. Now, I am eat within an hour of waking and snack regularily. Now, I snack on fruit or whole grain bars. Take this opprotunity to improve your entire lifestyle, better eating, more exercise, etc. Good luck and enjoy the new and improved you.
Chris
