Morning Bob!!
I just love it when our kids have to shake us up and wake us up finally to ther fact that we're hurting ourselves and others by continuing an unnecessary activity. I also quit partially because of my youngest, a son, and how my smoking had affected him. You see he is now also addicted to nicotine. Like his Dad, and his Dad's Dad and His Dad's Dad's Dad. Get the picture. Somewhere somone has to break the cycle. imageThe cycle of addiction. Somone has to step up and show those they love (including themselves) that quitting smoking by addressing their addiction to nicotine is a process that is 'do-able'.
Bob, don't get me wrong, I quit for many reasons, that was only one of them. I'm sure you have many personal reasons also to get rid of tobacco cigarettes and reclaim control of your life, your health, your mind / thoughts, your time, your personal appearance, your Pocketbook. Come back here (because making it public reinforces & increases committment) and write down your reasons & motivations for getting cigarettes / nicotine out of your life. Write down your dreams of a smoke free future that will allow you to experience life as it was meant to be - comfortable, easy, relaxed, free because you Choose to LIVE nicotine free. There are so many personal wonders and triumphs on this road of recovery back to the real you. Give yourself the time it takes to experience how good living as we were meant to be can be. Give it 90 days - if you are not completely satisfied after 90 days of nicotine clean freedom then you can have your addiction back full force. All you'll need to do is take one puff and it Will again consume and control you.
I promise you three things if you follow the one rule of success - No Nicotine Today, no matter what.
  • Life lived with nicotine addiction arrested is much better thatn life lived ensnared in the grips of active addiction.
  • This process of recovery and healing gets better & easier, more natural, each and every day that you decide to promise yourself that I'll NTAP.
  • That you too can do this after 40 years of active addiction (There are not part-time addicts Bob. Once you are you always are. You may smoke tobacco 'part-time' but if nicotine is in you in any way you are nonethless actively needing nicotine. It permeates every thought, every plan, every thing you do or hope to do - the need for the next one.)

Life is better - you'll see - when we decide to live it as it was meant to be, nicotine dependency free. Just Never Take Another Puff and Freedom you will see.
