Hello Cathy and Welcome to Freedom!

Congratulations on your 9 Free Days!!!

Your post is so full of honesty and the reality of those first difficult days that I can't help remembering how off-balance and unsure I felt in my first few days too. Luckily, these feelings don't last too long or none of us would ever succeed in quitting nicotine. You're walking straight thru the hardest part, so keep on walking that straight line! There is another, wonderful side to all of this, I promise.

You're doing a wonderful thing by reading here and at WhyQuit. Read and read and read! You benefit both by gaining an education about your addiction and also by the reassurance of the real experiences of others just like you who are walking the talk every day.

I'm sorry about your dear friend. I think all of our lives have been touched by the loss of loved ones caused or contributed to by nicotine addiction. For myself, I like to think of my quit as breaking the cycle of smoking-related illness & death in my family. I hope my choosing myself over nicotine addiction is an encouraging thing to those I care about who are still actively using. Since I've quit, my husband, my sister, my cousin and a couple of friends have quit. Your quit will inspire others too.

I've switched browsers and so can't post links to all the helpful threads, but I bet someone will be along soon to get you started.

Cathy, you're doing great! Hug your quit tight - it's the best gift you've ever given yourself!

:) Melissa
