I just wanted to stop in and say thanks to everyone for their replies. I'm still going strong and my cravings have dropped back down again, much to my relief.
The heartburn is still rather persistent but a friend pointed out that since I'm drinking more coffee, two cups a day more than I did previously, that could be causing the problem. Consequently this morning I only had one cup, my normal before my quit, before leaving for work as opposed to two, my normal after the quit. I still had a cup this afternoon, which I didn't usually do before the quit, but I figure this is going to be a gradual change. I also read, in one of the links provided above I think, that smoking prohibits the amount of caffeine that gets into your system so ex-smokers sometimes need to cut back on their caffeine intake because their normal caffeine intake may be too much after they quit smoking. I'm thinking that this might be part of the problem as well. While I'm not jittery or having trouble sleeping perhaps the extra caffeine that's making it through is aiding the heartburn. In any case, I'm taking Tums to alleviate the discomfort while I work at cutting back the amount of coffee I drink.
I have been quit for 2 Weeks, 2 Days, 13 hours, 15 minutes and 42 seconds (16 days). I have saved $34.59 by not smoking 182 cigarettes. I have saved 15 hours and 10 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 3/12/2006 2:30 AM.
