Boy Kristie - do I ever know what you're feeling. I work from home several days a week, and was raised by a mother (currently dying from lung cancer) who also had the "cig when i'm done" or "in between" mentality. Talk about reprogramming myself.
The first thing I always do in any situation is reaffirm my NTAP. It is core of why I am sucessful so far.
Second, I usually smoked in only one place in my house (I have a turbo fan in my kitchen). I put water, fruit, nuts, my list of why I'm quitting, etc. where that old smoking place is. Sometimes I even put my laptop there. I still go to that spot, but change it's assoication to something positive.
Third, Decide ahead of time what it is that you will do when you're finished a task. Like when you smoked, you knew that you would smoke between tasks. Now just find something else that will take it's place (I like the water thing).
Forth, Be warned, I think you'll find you will still have more time than before you quit. I find I get at least 2 or 3 more things "done" during the day. I'll never complain about that!
Good luck, hope some of these ideas work for you!
Nancy NTAP
One week, three days, 54 minutes and 46 seconds. 250 cigarettes not smoked, saving $60.73. Life saved: 20 hours, 50 minutes.
