You may have stopped using nicotine but you will always be addicted. I have been exercising regularly since I quit smoking nearly five years ago. No one can make an argument against it as it promotes mental and physical well being. That does not mean that we have to become Olympic athletes to benefit from exercise. As dholden2009 pointed out, taking a walk is exercise. You don't need to be pushed off the fence either, you can climb down of your own accord. Whenever I just don't feel like doing it, I remind myself that I have never regretted having exercised after I am done and it only takes a few minutes after I have started to begin enjoying it. It always leaves me feeling good about myself. Conversely smoking tobacco was a requirement. I had to do it whether I liked it or not and towards the end I smoked despite wanting to quit. After smoking a cigarette, I always regretted having done it and it only took a few puffs before I realized that there was no enjoyment in smoking tobacco, just another 30 - 40 minutes of relief from withdrawal. It left me feeling disgusted with myself.

However, whether you decide to begin exercising or not you will still remain nicotine free if you never take another puff.
