You know I think over smoking has it's own hangover. I used to do that and the next day I didn't smoke til like 6pm. I just didn't want one. Uck! So, I have no more smoke hangovers. No crud in my throat or such. Speaking of alcohol, I drink socially too and it was a trigger no doubt. It quickly dwindled as a trigger. What I found, and this is me of course, is that I did not drink as much! When I did have more than a glass , or two, (wine), I would be a little more emotional. That is something I came into in my quit anyway. So, perhaps you are doing good to avoid it for now. I encountered a LOT of emotional awakenings during the first two weeks. Alcohol did accentuate them. For me, being one who dams up things, tough girl act, it was helpful in spilling my guts. Who knows. I survived. Whenever I knew I was going to be around my smoking buddies I would read and prepare for it. I even made little cheat notes and carried them in my pocket for one event! When the event came I wasn't even tempted. The anxiety was worse than reality.
I can honestly say that since the end of the third week I have been good. REAL good! This month I hardly think about cigarettes even during my 3 hours of daily driving. I never WANT one. The education here is way too good to leave me wanting to poison myself. Keep working on your arsenal of truth. There is an index of reading on whyquit and a collection of videos. And of course John's book, The Journey Home, FREEDOM FROM NICOTINE. Read my friend. You will find so many things along this journey. I hope you find the joy I found. And the overwhelming sense of freedom~! You have lost nothing of value and given up nothing but chains and poison. You have taken charge of your thoughts and actions and are paving a path to the real, nicotine free YOU!
Congratualtions! Now take it ONE day at a time with "no nicotine today" as your waking thought.
Terri - Free and Healing for One Month, Twenty Four Days, 10 Hours and 3 Minutes, while extending my life expectancy 2 Days and 6 Hours, by avoiding the use of 653 nicotine delivery devices that would have cost me $130.90.
