28 days and I feel fantastic.
I don't really cough up much phlegm any more other than the clear stuff from having a slight cold at the moment. 4 weeks ago I was coughing so hard and long every morning it took me a double and sometimes triple overdose of my asthma medication and choking back 3 or 4 cigarettes before I started wheezing normally. It wasn't a normal cough either. It was a barking, rattling, soupy kind of cough that made people give me that slightly alarmed look of "wow... that does not sound good... you gotta get off cigarettes" Along with the cough would come a large greyish brown/green lump of phlegm which I would hawk into the toilet, check for signs of blood, then light up another one before I had a shower. Great start to the day, huh?
Now, 28 days later, I still cough a bit but I know I'm healing. I've cut back on my asthma medication to prescribed levels, the big black circles under my eyes are fading away, I sleep better and wake up feeling rested and refreshed, I snore less, I have loads more energy, and I'm thinking more clearly. I don't obsess about cigarettes like I did every other time I "tried to quit". Of course that's just because I never truly quit before. I always "snuck" in the odd puff, and I always had a few cigarettes stashed around "just in case".
