countdown to gold and smokefree birthday!

Hi all, Just want to add a quick post to say I've just had the most wonderful birthday - nope didn't do anything particularly exciting (although I did get a lovely big pepper mill from my hubby which I've wanted for ages!!) but I guess you all know..... its because it was smokefree, my first in years and I always had some empty promise every year that by "next year" I wouldn't be smoking but always was!! not this year!!
My GOLD date is 22nd October so just under a month, there's something so special about reaching this point and then it goes on and on!!
I was at a friends house recently for supper and they had friends over who I know, but not very well.
The wife went out for a smoke and hovered in the open doorway chatting, now as a smoker back along, I was sure that I'd heard she'd stopped but just figured I was mistaken,
then the conversation turned to her smoking addiction and she confirmed that yes she had indeed given up,
"oh it was about 2 years I think" she said "but one night with a few drinks, I thought I'm OK now I can have just one or two but oh no!! and I was hooked again in no time"
she laughed it off but I could see the desperation of an addict there - Never Take Another Puff right before my eyes.
Love to everyone new and old
Lucie
