Hello Zarefah:
You put this post about falling off the wagon under the topic heading of Help Me-S.O.S.
I know the two preceding letters are strong and direct, but I feel your request of Help Me-S.O.S. is a direct plead for the best information to enhance your chance of success.
The battle over nicotine is probably the most important battle for health that a person ever makes. You are fighting for your life and I want every smoker to have the best information as ammunition to win that fight. The stakes are too high.
Look at the concept of "just" having one or two. If an alcoholic said to you he was doing real good at quitting drinking, he just had one today, what would you think? If a heroin addict said he is basically cured, he only took one injection today, what would you think to that too? This is no different. Recognize the enemy here, you are a drug addict, the drug is nicotine. Your options now are to become a recovering addict or an actively using addict. The quantity that is used to measure the difference between the two states is zero cigarettes or anything other than zero. There is no difference between one puff or 40 cigarettes. They will both keep you a smoker over the long haul.
Make this quit different. Treat smoking as an addiction. It is what it is. Treat an addiction as an addiction and you will be able to overcome its grip. Treat it as a bad habit and you will not have a prayer.
Good luck Zarafeh. Again if anything we can do to help get in touch.
