I started with Camel straights, mostly smoked those for years, then started trying generic brands for price reasons, including Safeway's Scotchbrand, Doral, Basic, etc. -- whatever was okay and cheap (I was feeling guilty about spending so much money). Then I would treat myself with Marlboro reds from time to time. I also rolled cigarettes -- something I learned living in Europe -- and smoked a Belgian/Dutch brand called Bastos, a Dutch brand called Caballero, and the famous French brands, Gauloises and Gitanes, especially the latter for the romantic packaging.

The last pack of cigarettes I bought was a pack of Caballeros I bought in Amsterdam, brought home to the U.S. with the notion that these would be my last smokes.

And so it has been, Now over four months!
