I was browsing through and saw this thread which I had never read before - I guess it seemed odd to me to reminisce about the brand of nicotine delivery I used to use. But maybe it could be helpful.

WHen I began smoking, I just bummed, so anything - because I wasnt "a smoker" and so there was no need to buy any.

Then, when I decided to buy, I went to a fancy tabacco shop and bought some sort of hand-rolled jobs. When I finished those I went back and probably tried another brand - equally expensive, because hey! I was NOT a smoker - it's not like I'd be buying these things all the time, and I like fine quality.

Went on like that for a while. Then I took a trip to Europe - by this time I'd started buying Camels (tabacco store was a bit far away). But I still wasn't really a smoker. But Camel seemed like a real cigarette, not some sort of "slim" or "menthol" or "ultra-light" sissy smoke (I'm a girl, but still!).

The European trip got me thinking it was far cooler and more original and esoteric to smoke rolled cigarettes - so I started buying Drum and rolling.

When II tired of that, it became pretty much whatever, mostly camels of all kinds.

AND THEN - they came out with American Spirit! The natural, organic cigarette!!! Perfect, that was for me!

Smoked those for a while, then moved to Europe and went back to smoking whatever - Lucky Strike, Camel, Marlboro Reds.

AND THEN at the time when I quit, both my husband and I were smoking a new all natural, organic, no chemicals added (yeah, right!!!) Camel called "Camel Essentials".

Soooooo much healthier than regular ciggies, you know. The marketers really know their target smoking groups. These ciggies (like the American Spirit) appeal to people who know they should stop smoking because it's deadly, who want to stop smoking, but they can't seem to... so they'll buy a cigarette that looks "healthier" than the others!

I am sure there are more brands following the trend nowadays - but I haven't been in a place that sells tabacco in 5 weeks, so
I wouldn't know.

Craziness. So glad I got off the roller coaster.
