After hooking myself on nicotine with any brand that I could get my hands on, at 14 y.o. I settled on Wintons because my mother smoked them, and I bummed them a lot. I liked the fact that none of my friends smoked them except for me-I guess I felt like an INDIVIDUALimageLOL-or maybe I just liked that I was the last one that my friends would bum cigs from cause they thought mine were 'gross'.
I eventually 'conformed', and started smoking Marlboro Reds along with my peers.
I alternated between those and generics until I met my husband when I was 18- he smoked Camel Lights-so I tried those. There is no cig that has that weird Camel taste and I was hooked. We soon moved onto Camel Light Wides. We smoked those for YEARS.
My husband and I quit smoking 2 1/2 years ago. He never relapsed (image), but I caved about 6 months ago and started smoking Marlboros again, until this final quit.
I think that it is strange how we associated particular brands with certain times or memories from the past. I also found it interesting that when we (my husband & I) were younger, certain brands were 'cooler' than others. Almost like a status symbol. Idiotic in retrospect.
Anyway, I guess the brand of cigarettes I smoked is as insignificant in the grand scheme of things, as is the brand of gun someone would choose to kill themselves with, right?
I'm much happier agonizing over which brand of cereal to buy LOL!!
