I feel I should add to this thread, simply by noting that I have read two of Allen Carr's books, and I find them superb for reinforcing my quit. The very great aspect of Carr's books is that he stresses the importance of quitting with a totally positive, indeed happy, frame of mind. That way, positive thinking actually creates the conditions of success. I believe that Roger, on this site, has written about this attitude as well (see 1-11-2003). There are deep similarities between Joel and Allen Carr -- the two expressions, so to speak, are virtually identical -- and together form sufficient proof of their truth!
One doesn't need to read Allen Carr -- but it is fun and quite productive to do so and complements everything you find here at Freedom. The only warning is that the books are among the worst edited I have ever seen.
And, of course, most successful smokers have quit without ever hearing of either Allen Carr or Joel -- or this wonderful web site.
Just my thoughts late on a Thursday ....
Joe
Three months, two weeks, three days, 22 hours, 11 minutes and 38 seconds. 2178 cigarettes not smoked, saving $408.47. Life saved: 1 week, 13 hours, 30 minutes.
