Hi All,
Isn't it amazing that looking back, time seems to fly? I certainly can remember having a few days that did not
'fly by', but for any newbies that may peruse this message, the hard times really do diminish as time rolls by ...
I haven't been able to post the past week or so as, living in South Florida, I've had quite an exceptional
trigger to deal with - Hurricane Frances! As you might expect, my addiction was screaming to be fed as the whole state of Florida started intense hurricane
preparations - 24/7 weather updates everywhere you go, store shelves completely emptied of beverages, non-perishable food! People forming lines around
hardware stores, and at gas stations, and as the storm gets closer, there is less and less available to those who did not get going on the preparations soon
enough. Everyone starts boarding up the windows of businesses and homes - Schools and public buildings announce closings - Then you wait to see what the
storm will actually do .... talk about a nail biting event ... and then you get the storm ...
It was great to not have to include nicotine on my list of provisions. With Hurricane Ivan approaching us now, people are actually complaining that they cannot find their brand - we haven't really gotten over
Frances yet, and most stores haven't been able to fully re-stock from the previous onslaught of hurricane preparations. Talk about enduring awful
weather to satisfy your addiction - how about tropical (and hurricane) force winds, accompanied by torrential horizontal rain, and any items that are blowing
around the neighborhood! As a smoker (Hurricane Andrew and many other less potent storms), I braved those conditions to smoke. It is so scary to think how many people have risked, and some probably lost, their lives because they just had to get their nicotine
fix...
I am soooooo thankful to be nicotine free and double green now too.
