Ann Forester, my mom was a smoker all her life. She tried to stop several times...I'd find her sneaking to the bathroom and spraying air freshner...As a child, I bought her cigarettes...As a teen I pleaded with her to stop...As an adult, I saw the devastation that her smoking had caused...Oxygen, short out of breath walks, unable to complete the little things without being winded...Respiratory infection after infection...Ultimately, her death at 62. I was 30...Had a family and now a son that she never got to see...This hurts more than anything...I cry because he missed such a wonderful grandma...and I'm missing the best fried I ever had...MOM

ANN MARIE HARTMAN
I am writing in remembrance of my grandmother. She had been a smoker of 20+ years when the doctors found cancer in 3/4 of her right lung. After the
diagnosis she underwent surgery to remove the infected lung; leaving her with 1 and a 1/3 lung left. Emphazyma was next, she was in and out of the hospital
and on and off respirstors. Not to long after that the dr opted to put in a trachea tube. After this she told my father that she was ready to give
up...life was too hard and painful to go on. Those last few memories I have of her smiling at me when I walked through the door are priceless and they are
with me always. We lost her on May 26, 2000. Granny you were my inspiration and strength. I am glad that God gave you to me, I was truly blessed with an
angel. You are truly missed and I WISH YOU WERE HERE. Love ya mendy lou
