Be Careful How You Title Your Posts
We had an occurrence today where one of our members realized that her first post that was to be her personal quit journal had a title indicating that she was having problems with urges at the time she wrote it. Now, weeks later when she wanted to add comments to her journal, it would constantly pop up the old string with a title making all who were reading here at the board think that the person was still having some kind of problem. Over time, this would likely be more and more of a problem of giving a false perception of a person who was still in crisis long after the crisis may be over.
The member recognized the situation herself and started a new thread to be used as her journal with a link over to the old thread. This was a very appropriate way to handle the problem I think the incident though serves as a good example of how important it is for our members to careful how they title their posts--especially ones that they are considering using over a longer-time period.
Here are some comments from our string Bringing negative posts to the top after the crisis has passed that addresses the issue of being careful of how you title posts at Freedom.
The entire string of Bringing negative posts to the top after the crisis has passed discusses potential problems of having strings that have titles that if used over time may not accurate reflect the mindset of the member. So as it says above, be careful how you title your posts. They are likely to have more attention and longevity if their titles are not attention seeking by design.
