December 26th, 2009 midnight... reading articles on this website and really wishing I too was an ex-smoker. So many of the articles and various comments
rang so true. I had worked very hard for 24 years to be a smoker. And then the answer came to me like a vision across the night sky "NEVER TAKE ANOTHER
PUFF"!! I chuckled, shook my head... and said outloud "It really is that simple isn't it"? "I don't need to do
anything". I need to not buy nicotine delivery devices, not carry them with me, not worry about when
and where I can have my next fix! So I did it in haste and without much thought. I put out that last stinky, rotten cigatette and said "ENOUGH"!
The next morning I woke with the usual crave for morning coffee and a butt. Coffee o.k. but no more butts for me. One crave at a time... NOPE... just isn't gonna happen. It's one week nicotine free tonight at midnight. I'm starting to feel better already. Taking deep breathes without coughing is wonderful. I enjoy being an ex-smoker. It is liberating! When I see someone smoking it doesn't even seem possible that that was me a week ago. It doesn't seem possible that I spent so many years and so much money on that nasty addiction.
To close a big THANK YOU to all of those involved with putting this forum together. I look forward to participating in supporting others in achieving their goal of NTAP! My 11 year old son is very happy as well, he got a smoke free dad for 2010! Can't think of a better gift to give a child.
Thanks so much,
*nicotine free for 6 days 12 hours... counting
