Hi John. Thanks for bringing me back to the basics. Yes I am impatient. YES, you're right, I think one day at a time can get me through it until the day where not wanting to use is my normal. (It was an urge to smoke while playing back yard tennis with my son that set me off! I was angry that even fun tennis with my son was tainted by use memories and a trigger to smoke.) Before finding this site my most fervent wish was to wake up one morning a "never user". Someone completely untouched by addiction to nicotine with no idea of what all the fuss was about. I felt that way because I really believed I could never quit and stay quit. But now I have the tools and like others I'm eternally grateful. I think you people may well be saints. bfn

I will not smoke today. I am an ex-smoker and recovering nicotine drug addict. If I have a bad day I know it is part of the healing, not a setback. Hi Rangi,Congratulations on turning GREEN !!!!! Doesn't it feel great??One month down and more to come, still taking one day at a time. It really does get easier, but don't drop your guard and keep reading on here to reinforce your knowledge and your quit..
John (JW)If you want to quit, surround yourself with successful quitters. After 1 month, 2 weeks, 6 days, 2 hours, 24 mins without a fix, I have successfully turned my back on 1502 nicotine providers which would have cost me £490.61. In doing so, I have gained an extra 5 days, 5 hours, 10 minutes to feel good about life.
