I am currently serving in Afghanistan. The thing is, I am literally am more afraid of smoking than indirect fire (rockets, mortars). I have been a pack a day + smoker since I was 19 (five and a half years). Smoking took a lot from me, it took my good run times, my money, my health, my mother, my father. There have been many times I have really been into a girl, only to be left when she found out I was a smoker. When I didn't have smokes I would dig though trash, scowler ashtrays, or any other disgusting way I could get smokes. I have tried more times to quit than I can count. When I was 20, I tried the patch for the whole eight week period, and I went though mild withdraw for four weeks, moderate withdraw for two weeks, extreme withdraw for two weeks before I could take it no longer and gave up. Fortunately, I stumbled upon this very site and became educated on the Law of Addiction. Five and a half years later I know I can never be a non-smoker again, but as long as I remember I am not an exception to never take another puff I hope to be an ex-smoker for the rest of my life. As of right now I have been free for One week, four days, 4 hours, 3 minutes and 34 seconds. 223 cigarettes not smoked, saving $50.26. Life saved: 18 hours, 35 minutes.
