I'm excited to finally be able to post and share my experience in becoming a non-smoker. I had my first puff at 13 and I remember getting really sick. I'm 37 now. My dad smoked and I remember seeing it as not a big deal. As a teenager I was in the so called "cool crowd" so we all smoked. We used to collect the camel points and send for "free" camel Joe stuff. I quit smoking for about 7 weeks after basic training in the Air Force and started right back up after training. I've tried to quit several times with patches, gum, ziban and Chantix. I have now learned that those things were just holding me back. I have been smoke free for 7 days, 23 hours and 44 minutes. I've been following all of the great advice on this site and taking it a day at a time. I do think about smoking often but it has been decreasing as time goes by. I get on this website if the urge becomes overwhelming. Like what Joel said ask myself if I want everything back that comes with that one puff and of course the answer is "no way"! I say it much more explicitly though in my head. lol. Thanks to Joel, the webmaster and everyone here for just being there as support. I look forward to being there the best I can for all of us who have committed to NTAP!
