I've been thinking about the empty promises that make / made up our rationale to keep on sucking in tobacco juice and smoke. The empty promise that has been foisted upon the consuming public, especially the young, for far too long that ingesting tobacco / nicotine provides some type of benefit. The empty promises that if we ingest another dose we'll be calm again, alert again, comforted again, at ease again, grown-up too soon, able to relax, able to think, able to live better becasue we utilize tobacco (nicotine).
The promises are empty because they are predicated on the same lie - that tobacco provides a benefit. There are no answers in those tubes of tobacco, those tins of worm dirt nor those bags of chopped up plant leaves.
Tobacco use is beneficial in no way shape or form. The Promise is Empty because it is NOT TRUE!
The only thing that tobacco use benefits is alleviating the withdrawal anxiety created by the previous doses.
I often observe here in the posts of newly arrived and determined ex-smokers the struggle they have in stripping away that central lie - that life is going to be more difficult living without tobacco.
NOT TRUE! I guess that's why I wanted to get these thoughts down.
If it can help one person see that what they are 'missing' is the drug and not the activity then it was worth the time taken.
Newbie and lurker alike - LISTEN UP - Living free of a non-essential chemical compound that is a naturally occurring neuromodulator is not a struggle. It is absolute Freedom to think, act, breathe, live......as we were designed and meant to be - with our natural / original blood chemistry. We arrest this dependency by banishing the intruder chemical compound from our body and brain. It is a decision held tight with great effort as we unravel the tentacles of a choking addiction use psychology. But unravel it does as long as we continue to bathe the lies that kept us trapped in a chemical dependency use patter for far too long bathed in the bright light of truth. Never underestimate the absolute ability of this addiction to control you if you relinquish your only defense - abstinence. Like any addiction we stay in control by staying clean of the substance. To be freed from nicotine dependency we need to stay free of nicotine.
We each have taken the first step and come clean for at least 72 hours. From that point on, things improve. For some our control and ease with being clean is slowly won back. But the process is unfailing. If you decide to no longer allow nicotine to dominate your life then you will soon see that life is FAR BETTER & EASIER when we treat our body and brain with respect and choose to not ever take another dip or dose or draw of nicotine.
Empty promises are replaced by the real promise of a longer, better and far richer life lived as we were always intended to be - clean of nicotine and free.
