When I had my quit going for about 2 weeks , I called the dentist to schedule a Checkup and cleaning. Due to smoking 2-3 packs a day it never took to long
after a cleaning to have my teeth yellowed and stained. But hey you can't go to the dentist every week. So I accepted dingy , yellow, stained teeth as a way of life.
Well the dentist said August 17 was the earliest, I quit April 3,2001, I wasn't too happy.
But what can you do.
I looked in the mirror every morning and saw the same stained yellow teeth, uuuugh! And the past two weekends have brought tremendous urges, triggers , and
temptation, from the Nicodemon. But I have held on to my quit, Never Take Another Puff, over and over. Thinking how I would be cheating myself, and only me ,
if I took anther sickarette.
The dentist office called , they had a cancellation, would I like to get in for my appointment earlier???
I jumped at it , it was yesterday. As the dental technician worked removing all the built-up stain & gunk (yeeeeccck) she asked if I smoked a pipe or
something?? I shamefully replied "I smoked cigarettes". "but I quit and haven't smoked for about 3 months" I proudly added.
"Good for you" she said, and also informed the dentist.
Well I couldn't hardly wait to see the results, .
I now now have a bright new smile , and a new resolve to keep my quit going.
In retrospect this new resolve was just the boost I needed at this point in my quit.
Good luck to everyone, Sorry to ramble on.
Jon
