There is no way for us to make a listing of words that are inappropriate for use at Freedom without writing out the very phrases that we don't allow at Freedom. If a member ever sees one of his or her posts removed or edited and then sees this Rules and Courtesy thread brought up with an attached post stating the profanity clause, he or she should be aware that he or she has now gotten a written warning. The next time the same member breaks the same rule his or her posting privileges will be pulled.

We work very hard to keep the Freedom board totally free and clear of any kind of profanity--enforcing editing or deleting of posts for what many people and most other sites would consider minor infractions. We have found from experience that allowing minor infractions by some will lead to others feeling the need to push the envelope. We basically have no envelope to be pushed. The commentary below discusses how serious we are about enforcing our Rules and Courtesies. As it says, "we end up removing many more members because of the breaking of these rules than because of relapsing."

Just today I noticed the same word being used in a phrase by another member in a post last night. Now today, two other members highlighted the phrase and reposted it. This is what I meant when I said yesterday how one person using a minor phrase can easily lead to others feeling that it is fine to use any kind of language at Freedom and can lead other to feel the need to push the envelope. Using strong or colorful language is not the way to get the desired effect of garnishing attention to a post. It is a way to insure a post is going to get little to no attention for no one is going to see it once it is deleted.

Everyone who posts at Freedom needs to be aware of our profanity clause. We promote the site to school aged groups and we want any parent or school administrator to feel safe and secure at referring any student to read at our site. The best chance we have of accomplishing this goal is if all of our posts are written in an mature and appropriate manner.
