Hi there fellow recovering nicotine addicts!
A number of times over the last 13 days I have had a sudden craving for a cigarette - once I think of the reasons listed below though the craving somehow
passes really quickly. I have tried quitting before and this has never been the case in the past. In fact my previous quits never lasted beyond a 24 hr
period and regularly far less - I felt like such a failure. What's different about this quit is education and what I have learned online here at Freedom.
As a member of a couple of 12 step programmes for some years, I also know that one day at a time I can achieve anything, even freedom from addiction.
Reasons for my Nicotine Quit:
"I dont want to die the horrible death of lung cancer - coughing and choking and wasting away to nothing with chemo. Leaving my son without a mother and
giving him no choice but to witness his mother's horrible death. This is not acceptable. My son deserves better than this and I am going to give it to
him one day at a time. He will live in a smoke-free home where his little lungs are free to grow and breathe as they should - besides he hates cigarettes and
I am more than happy to oblige him today in this view.
I want my brain to bathe in oxygen-rich, nicotine free blood serum and this very thought send shivers of delight down my spine. Beautiful, beautiful happy
days! Free of 4000 disgusting chemicals that had altered so many neuronal pathways in my brain that my very will had been robbed. This is not acceptable. I
claim my right to freedom. Nicotine is the last and final substance to go which once and for so long held dominion over me - I am no longer a substance
addict. Amen, Amen. I am free.
I can breathe - I CAN BREATHE! MY LUNGS WORK PROPERLY - THE BRONCHIAL TUBES IN MY LUNGS HAVE RELAXED AND I CAN BREATHE! YEEEAAAHHH, YEEEAAAAHHHH!
I AM FREE AND I CAN BREATHE.
Also, my skin, that most precious and undervalued organ can now start to breathe too. The money I save from not smoking horrible little sticks of death I am
going to use on regenerating my skin - and this is the FUN part. Top of the range Facials, aromatherapy Massages, the best face creams out there,
antioxidants and regular exercise - cos I am worth every penny and every joule of effort it takes. Amen Amen.
The very gift of life is in our breath - it is a gift I will never take for granted again. It is a gift I am going to enjoy at its best one day at at a time
for the rest of my life".
I hope I havent offended anybody and I wish everyone success and freedom in their quit.
Jean
