We actually "grieve" for our "friend" nicotine... who has now "died". And the stages of grieving are the stages of our recovery. Nicotine didn't make you strong, and its absence won't remove the inner core of who you are. Its just during the recovery process things will be seeking a new balance.
Nicotine addicts us through dopamine, the brain's "feel good" chemical. Understand how you could feel less than good right now? Its temporary. It will get better!
And you are doing this!

Ride to live
or is it
Live to ride?
I can never figure that one out, but I do know turning green should be reason to cruise a bit and to celebrate! At 30 days you should be realizing that there isnt anything you cant do without nicotine. Your first post Star's first post & diary......hello points out many of the benefits that we all learn in time....... life is sweeter without smoking. Hold onto your quit and be sure to take the time to enjoy it.
I've not been posting lately as busy elsewhere, things have been crazy...family member in hospital for 2 weeks(coming home soon and well, thank goodness).....Wow what triggers stress gives us, Yes I wanted one for an insane instant or 2, or 3, but like Joel's video said, "ITS NOT ONE PUFF, its all those that will come after"......okay I'm STILL learning, but one thing I remember from day 1 of my quit: I AM NEVER GOING TO TAKE ANOTHER PUFF. NO WAY-NO HOW......today......
Star, 45 days free of nicotine.

Hi there Star and congratulations on turning Green!! Sorry I'm so late with this. I just read your diary and about the triggers....1 is too many and 1000 aren't enough eh? That's why we say 1 = all of them and 0 = Freedom.
What I am remembering about triggers is how, with time, they become just thoughts when I am experiencing something I haven't done as an ex-smoker! My husband and I just made a move to another city and I had not experienced moving before, as an ex-smoker. I can honestly say that a year ago, these thoughts would have been craves/urges, things that would need to be dealt with. Today though, they are just thoughts like... I'd like a smoke, oops, I don't smoke anymore...the end. It does get easier Star and I think you are well on your way to appreciating that. Keep reading and watching the video before you know it you'll be double green!!

Many congratulations on double green Star !!
As we go through our first nicotine free lap around the sun, we periodically need to face down triggers that serve to mark the integration of nicotine into every facet of our lives - happy times, sad times, work, non work, changing seasons, moving house, birthdays, anniversaries etc - in other words, we need to unravel - trigger by trigger - nicotine's amalgamation into every event, emotion and activity in our lives. As you accumulate further quit time under your belt, the frequency and need for such trigger busting will get further and further apart, bringing you that much closer to becoming a contented and comfortable ex smoker. As you do this, you'll come face to face with the famous "fewer, shorter, weaker" syndrome - as you stay quit, your craves will become fewer in number, shorter in duration and weaker in intensity.
Have you read O'Bob's classic - Turning the corner - acceptance - by any chance?
